Key Character
When doing the draft filming Me (Paddy) and Elliott both played the role of the main character with the other filming. when we had uploaded the draft footage it was checked by the examiner who recommended that I play the part of the lead character. I was happy to do this, the only problem however was that we all felt that my voice would not really fit the character. we therefore came up with the idea of dubbing Toby's voice over mine but then change the pitch down. We decided to do this as we felt that his voice would work better with the character. As far as a characters name goes, this may not be that important as we are are unsure whether he will introduce himself or be named by other characters.

Inspiration for film
After
we decided that our original idea of a gangster film would not really work we
had to change ideas. As a group we decided to do a superhero movie opening. The
idea for the opening came from a previous task that was not really linked to this.
At first the idea was just a comedy make-fun of recent superhero films,
specifically the dark knight trilogy. We decided that we should move away from
the original concept by making it more serious but whilst still maintaining an element
of humour. We therefore decided to, rather than make fun, base it on “The Dark
Knight Trilogy” and other films such as “The Amazing Spiderman” and “The
Avengers”. Our primary film focus would be “Kick Ass” as our film would very
much follow the plot of it. We were also inspired by recently released film “Kingsman:
The Secret Service” due to the way that humour is used.
Also
sense me and another member of the group are into comics we decided to also
base our film upon graphic novels such as “Batman”, “Kick-Ass”, “Kingsman: The
Secret Service” and “Watchmen”.
With superheroes as the main concept of our film it
mean that we have to use a very Hollywood style of narrative and theme meaning
that we do not have to focus on realism and can pretty much do whatever we
wanted to, using whatever we had. This is mostly due to the sudden increase in
demand for simple and action packed epics that provide a sense of escapism and
spectacle for the viewer.
Due to our budget being nothing and our filming time
also being very small it mean that we will be unable to travel to other
locations. This was the main reason that we had to drop the gangster film idea
as we needed a lot of time and resources and since we do not have a Hollywood
budget it means that we cannot have the effects and location that are usually
used. To get around this issue we decided that our superhero would be just an
average kid who protects his school. By doing this it means that we do not have
to travel anywhere and we can just go and do it whenever we want to. Also because
our superhero is supposed to just be a normal kid it means that we are able to
use just everyday items for the costume such as a hoodie.
Draft Filming
Phantom Car Driving Down Road
In our early draft of the storyboard we did not include the car driving to the location. we included this as it would increase thew time of our opening.
in the two above clips both Elliott and I test the scene where the main character walks towards the screen as the camera tracks back. Due to the

Draft Filming. Day 1 (5/12/14)
Because of issue of not being able to film at our originally intended location of the majority of our film we decided to change the location to somewhere that would be a lot easier to shoot at. There we took some draft shots of possible camera angles, movements and positions as well as still photos for the desired locations for the shots. The chosen location was St Margaret's Bay, which was far easier to shoot in due to it being fairly small and easily accessible to the public. Within the bay are some cliffs and a car park which were also possible filming locations and backgrounds. As it is separate from houses and roads it is quite and therefore becomes an ideal place for the storylines meeting to take place.
Rather than using the schools standard camcorder we chose to use our own which was my partners flip up video camera, mainly because it was light and very easy to use. It was also a great weight of our mind as we did not have to worry about any damage. It also meant we could film whenever we want to.
When we arrived at the location luckily for us the area was empty making it very easy to film and take photos as we did not have to worry about people getting in the way. The first thing we wanted to check was how well the sound came out on the camera as we were by the sea and it was fairly windy. This did end up becoming a problem but we did find a way around this by filming the shot and having the character with a voice recorder in their shirt pocket. This was a good idea as it meant that we did not have to record in a studio and spend ages timing it right. Another problem we had was because of the unstable ground the camera was quite shakey. But after these problems we did manage to get some draft shots. These included-

RockNRolla opening credits analysis
In the first 6
screenshots the credits, that introduce the production and distribution
companies as well as the director, are shown as if they have been spray painted
as a stencil on a wall. The colours used are very grim and give a gritty modern
gangster feeling, as well as the graffiti.
The actors and the
film titles are then shown with the name and the character that the actor is
playing also on screen. It is done in a freeze frame montage way with an almost
comic or cartoon look to it.

Snatch opening credits analysis
In this first shot it is filmed
from behind an unidentified character that is pretty much just a silhouette.
Behind him is the first of the credits showing the production company, which is
Matthew Vaughn. The text is also very basic bold text and is also white in
colour which helps it to stand out amongst the darker background. It is also
positioned at the bottom of the screen which means that the audience can see
what is going on in the shot.
These three shots show a
transition that first shows Turkish. It then fades to black with the speech
from the next scene starting whilst the screen is still black. It then fades in
to the next shot where the dialogue is coming from. At the bottom of the screen
in the same font style as above the location of the screen is shown.
This shot shows the introduction
of the cast of characters it is filmed as if being watched on TV, which is
filmed from a CCTV camera. The style of the credits is also written and displayed
using a basic bold grey font that has been highlighted in black. Though it is a
basic font style I feel that it works very well with the colours and the way
that the shot is filmed as well as the theme.
